To make hair dye, prepare ingredients according to the target color, and make an infusion out of herbs. Remove the herbs from the infusion, pour it into a spray bottle, and add a few drops of sweet almond oil to the mixture. Shake well before applying.
- Prepare the ingredients
For brown hair dye, prepare strong coffee, or make tea from sage, nettle and rosemary. For red hair dye, select hibiscus and calendula flowers. For blond hair, choose either chamomile tea for light tones or rhubarb root for darker gold. If using rhubarb root, chop it until fine.
- Start the infusion
Boil distilled water in a nonreactive pan. Once the water boils, add the desired herbs. Use 1/4 cup each of nettle, rosemary and sage for brown hair. For red highlights, add 1/2 cup of calendula flowers and 2 tablespoons of hibiscus petals. To lighten hair, mix 1/2 cup of lemon juice with chamomile tea or rhubarb root.
- Infuse the herbs
Reduce the heat to a simmer, and allow the herbs to steep for 30 minutes.
- Make the hair dye
Strain the infusion to remove the herbs. Pour the infusion into a spray bottle. If desired, add a few drops of sweet almond oil as a natural conditioner and thickener. Shake well to mix the ingredients.
- Use the hair dye
For the brown hair dye, spray it into the hair one hour before showering. For the other dyes, spray into the hair after showering, and allow the sun to dry your hair.
