A simple homemade glow-in-the-dark nail polish can be made simply by mixing a glow stick solution and a clear coat nail polish. Since glow sticks contain chemicals that may cause skin irritation, care must be taken when making this DIY glow-in-the-dark nail polish. It is a good idea to remove the nail polish altogether after the glowing effect has run its course.
The following shows how to make a simple glow-in-the-dark nail polish:
- Break the glow stick
- Cut the stick
- Apply on the nails
Initiate the chemiluminescence in the glow stick by bending it to break the inner tubes. Shake the stick vigorously to make it glow.
Using a sharp pair of scissors, carefully cut the glow stick in half. Make sure not to spill any of the liquid out or allow it to touch the skin, as the fluid can cause a minor irritation.
Pour the glow stick solution into the clear nail polish. If the fluid does not flow out of the tube, cut the stick at its other end.
Shake the nail polish container vigorously until the glow stick solution has thoroughly blended into the nail polish.
Apply the nail polish on the nails just like a regular nail polish and let it dry. The nails should glow in the dark for the next few hours.
