One Green Planet recommends a mixture of 1 cup of unrefined shea butter and 1 cup of cold pressed coconut oil to make whipped body butter in just a few hours. Optional ingredients are 1 tablespoon of jojoba oil, 5 to 10 drops of essential oils and 2 tablespoons of vegetable glycerin.
Place all ingredients into a food processor or large bowl and mix with until smooth. Add up to 10 drops of any essential oil. If unrefined shea butter is not available, use 2 cups of cold processed coconut oil.
Place the mixed ingredients in the refrigerator until the mixture is solid. The mixture can remain in the refrigerator overnight, but it typically hardens within a few hours.
Remove the mixture from the refrigerator, then whip with a hand mixer until the consistency of the mixture is smooth and fluffy.
Store the whipped body butter properly
Pour the body butter into lidded containers, such as old cosmetics jars or lidded canning jars, and store for up to a year. Store the mixture in the refrigerator in hot temperatures to prevent melting. If the body butter melts, harden it in the refrigerator and whip to the desired consistency with a hand mixer.
