To make bath bombs, combine citric acid, baking soda, cornstarch and food dye, add essential oils, and pack the mixture into baking molds. Unmold the bombs after two hours. This 2 1/2-hour procedure requires baking soda, cornstarch, citric acid, water, food dye, a small spray bottle, two glass bowls, a sifter and baking molds.
- Mix the dry ingredients
Sift 1 3/4 cup baking soda, 1 cup citric acid and 2 cups cornstarch into a large bowl.
- Add pigment
Scoop 1 cup of the powdered mixture into another bowl. Put five drops of liquid food coloring into an empty spray bottle, and fill it with water. Mist the powder two or three times, then mix it with your fingers. Spray twice more, and mix again. Repeat until you achieve the desired color.
- Add essential oils
Scent the mixture with up to seven drops of your favorite essential oil or a combination of oils. Mix the powder with your fingers.
- Mold the bombs
Pack the powder into small baking molds, pressing firmly to compact as much powder as possible into each mold. Wait two hours, then carefully pop the bombs out of the molds. Rinse and dry the molds, then mix another batch of powder, and mold more bombs. Repeat until you use all of the powdered ingredients.
