UV tattoos, as well as any other type of tattoo, heal completely in two to three weeks if cared for properly. Until then, a UV tattoo may be visible in normal lighting conditions. Even when fully healed, it is possible that scarring may render the tattoo visible in normal light.
Many people combine normal tattoo inks and UV tattoo inks for tattoos that look good in both normal and black light. Although the UV inks are not as vivid as normal inks, the tattoo is visible all the time. There is some concern about the toxicity of the phosphorus ink used in UV tattoos.
