The legal age to get a belly button piercing is 18 years in most states, as of 2013. However, some states allow minors to get belly button piercings with written consent from their legal guardians.
The law in each state differs in regard to age, parental consent and consequences for piercing a minor. For example, Hawaii does not have a law that dictates the legal age to get a belly button piercing. In contrast, Idaho does not allow body piercings for children under the age of 14, even if they have consent from their legal guardians. Children in Idaho between the ages of 14 and 18 must have written parental permission.
