Add volume to hair with the use of volumizing shampoos, hairstyling aids and the use of a blow dryer. Flip the hair over and blow dry from the nape of the neck towards the crown in layers, focusing on the roots.
Increasing hair volume can be done in a number of ways, but all of them are only temporary. Once the hair becomes too weighted down with creams, grease or gets washed, the volumizing effects are lost. The process can be repeated to restore volume to hair again.
While in the shower, a volumizing hair shampoo and conditioner can help give limp hair a boost. Use them sparingly, as these products may dry hair out. When clean, apply a light, volumizing mousse to damp hair. Work it in from the ends to the roots. Be careful of adding too much of any hair styling product to the hair, as this can counter the desired effect.
Using a round brush while blow drying hair is another effective way to add volume. Consider blow drying hair while it is flipped upside down, working from the nape of the neck towards the crown. It is also possible to create increased volume with gentle waves. Separate damp hair into sections and curl around the round brush from the ends to the roots. Blow hair dry while on the brush, then gently uncurl for large, loose waves.
