A healthy lifestyle, including a good diet and exercise, can improve hair growth. Minoxidil can make hairs grow on thinning areas of the scalp, but doesn't affect the growth rate of the rest of the hair. Treating medical conditions that cause poor hair growth can also improve hair growth.
Avoiding stress can also improve hair growth. There are, however, no other known supplements, drugs or treatments that can speed up or improve hair growth in women. In men affected by male-pattern baldness certain medications called 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors can stop and even reverse balding. These medications can cause hair to resume growth in men affected by male-pattern baldness.
