Participating Locks of Love salons offer free haircuts to customers who meet the donation requirements and want to donate 10 inches or more. Find participating salons by looking for the Locks of Love sticker on the shops' windows.
Locks of Love does not list participating salons on its site. However, some business directories generate lists of local participating salons. Make an appointment, and then tell the salon owner that you want to make a donation. Fill out a donation sheet, and then a stylist inspects your hair to make sure it meets the requirements. Next, she braids your hair or put it into a ponytail. It is cut and then mailed off to Locks of Love.
Cut your own hair If you cannot find a nearby salon that participates in the Locks of Love program. Download and fill out the hair donation form. Cut your dry ponytail or braid, and then seal it in a resealable plastic bag. Place the bag in a padded envelope. Finally, send the donation to the address listed on LocksofLove.org.
Locks of Love does not accept bleached hair, cut hair that falls on the floor, hair not put in a ponytail or braid, shaved hair or dreadlocks. Wigs and synthetic hair are also not accepted by Locks of Love.
