In 2014 new shades, such as Deep Purple Dream, Neon Orange and Titanium, were released by Manic Panic, Pravana and Joico as the trend toward bright, unnatural hair colors gained momentum. To keep up with this trend many hair color brands released new bright colors.
Manic Panic, one of the pioneers in producing bright hair colors, released five new shades of semi-permanent hair color in 2014. The new hair colors released were: Blue Steel, Deep Purple Dream, Inferno, Plum Passion and Siren's Song. Each of Manic Panic's hair colors can be mixed with its Pastel-izer to achieve a pastel version of the shade.
Pravana also released a new collection of hair colors in 2014. The collection, Pravana Chromasilk Neons, included Neon Pink, Neon Orange, Neon Blue, Neon Green and Neon Yellow.
Joico caught on to the bright hair color trend as well, and added a few more shades to its line of rainbow hair colors in 2014. The new colors added to the Joico Vero K-PAK Color Intensity Color System were Titanium, Orchid, Magenta and Light Purple.
Unnatural hair colors, also called fashion colors, need to be applied to a very light blond base in order to achieve their true shades. Often it is necessary to tone the hair first in order to get rid of unwanted coppery hues and then apply the desired fashion color.
