Embody Denim, Jag Jeans, James Jeans, Lucky Brand, MU Jeans, Mynt 1792, Silver Jeans, Torrid and ZMJ Denim are all quality plus-size designers for denim, according to The Curvy Fashionista. CJ by Cookie Johnson, David Khan and Svoboda are other options. Lane Bryant and New York and Company are store brands with stylish plus size jeans.
Bloomingdale's, Lord and Taylor, Macy's, Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue are all department stores that carry plus size jeans. Online retailers include Ashley Stewart, ASOS Curve, City Chic, Eloquii, eShakti, Navabi, One Stop Plus, Sealed With a Kiss, Simply Be, Sonsi, Woman Within, Style 369 and Yours Clothing.
Plus size denim cuts include skinny, straight leg, boot cut and wide leg. The boot cut is fitted across the thigh, breaks at the knee and is wide enough at the ankle to accommodate boots. Skinny jeans are fitted along the entire leg. A straight leg cut is wider than a skinny cut but more fitted along the calf and ankle. Wide leg jeans start flaring at the thigh all the way to the ankle.
Dark wash jeans in deep blue or black are slimming and flattering. Baggy jeans should be avoided. Jeans with stretch are more flattering, although Divine Caroline advises against jeans that are too tight.
Boot cut or flared jeans with minimal pockets elongate the legs. Low-rise jeans draw attention to the stomach, so mid-rise or high-rise jeans are recommended. If the desire is to minimize a larger backside, extra large pockets without flaps are advisable.
