Face contouring makeup uses dark and light foundation to highlight certain features, create definition and give an overall more slender appearance. Facial contouring requires base, foundation and bronzer or other makeup that is both one shade lighter than the natural skin color and one shade darker.
Face contouring makeup follows the same basic layout for all face shapes. Darker foundation should be applied along the hairline, the sides of the nose, along the jawline and in a downward line from the ear toward the lip. Lighter foundation or highlighter should be applied on the bridge of the nose, the middle of the forehead, along the cheekbones and on the cupid's bow or upper lip. The foundations should be blended with a brush for a natural-looking appearance.
