Curvy women typically have one of four types of body shapes: hourglass, funnel, pear or apple. Each of these is best complemented by different types of dresses.
An hourglass-shaped body features a large chest, a small waist and shapely hips and thighs. The balance between the top and bottom curves of women with this shape is accentuated by a wrap or a strapless dress.
A woman with a funnel-shaped body is curvier on the top, with the chest larger than the hips. A solid-color dress with a darker color on the top and a lighter color on the bottom flatters the natural taper down from the chest to her slimmer hips and thighs.
Conversely, women with pear-shaped bodies look good in dresses with a lighter color on top and a darker color on the bottom, as well as tunic dresses. Women with this type of body are wider in the middle than on top, and the lighter color highlights the chest and de-emphasized the hips and for a more flattering appearance.
An apple-shaped body is fuller around the middle, although women with this body type often have large chests as well. Those with apple shaped bodies look good in shorter dresses that draw attention to the legs and dresses with a dropped waist that sits below the stomach and hits the body below the true waist.
