For a drag queen, applying makeup is one of the most important parts of getting ready for any event. Applying and setting foundation, contouring, applying eyelashes and achieving the perfect pout are essential for looking the part.
Start with foundation. Apply it to cover the face, hiding any blemishes and evening out skin tone. For maximum staying power, let the foundation "set" by waiting 15 to 20 minutes after applying before finishing with powder or adding blush. A thin spray of hairspray will also help foundation to stay put as long as needed.
Contouring makes masculine facial features appear softer and more feminine. Attain this look by using contouring powder, blush, and highlighter. Use contouring powder to hide and soften areas of the face, and use highlighter to bring out facial features.
False eyelashes can be tricky to apply at first, but they undoubtedly add glamour. Give the glue a few minutes to adhere to the lashes before applying to your own lashes. Finish with a coat of mascara, using enough to thoroughly coat the lashes. Try blinking into the mascara wand instead of bringing the wand towards your eye.
Finish your look with your lips. With a lip pencil, line your lips from one bottom corner to the other, then repeat on top. Apply lipstick to the bottom lip, blending well, then add a touch of color to the top for maximum highlights. Experiment with different colors of lip pencils and lipstick for different looks. Set lip color with a brush of powder.
