Cornrows are worn in various styles, including the cornrow bun, cornrow mohawk, cornrows with a side part, zigzag cornrows and curvy cornrows. The amount of braids and the size of the braids vary by hairstyle.
Cornrow hairstyles can also be combined with other types of braids. These hairstyles consist of half cornrows and half twists or half cornrows and half box braids. Simple cornrow hairstyles are achieved by braiding a portion of the hair for texture and styling the rest as usual. People with thick hair usually don’t need to secure the end of a braid; however, those with thin hair experience unraveling. To prevent this, they can secure their hair with a rubber band.
