A daily regimen of skin care follows four steps: cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing and protecting, according to dermatologist Dr. Robert Miller. In addition, exercise, a vitamin-rich diet and water consumption contribute to healthy skin.
Skin is continually exposed to the sun, pollution, wind and sweat, so a twice-daily cleanse is advised. There are products for every type of skin, including oily, dry and normal. Exfoliation, when done twice weekly with a gentle scrubber, eliminates dead skin cells. Hydrating the skin with moisturizers helps control fine lines and wrinkles. It is also important to find a skin care product with a high SPF for skin protection when outdoors. Foods, such as almonds, mangoes and avocados, supply essential oils internally.
