Cotton is comfortable to wear because it creates a breathable, lightweight and soft fabric. When it is spun into thread or yarn, cotton is comfortable to wear in both cold and warm temperatures.
Cotton grows on cotton plants, and organic cotton is grown without the use of pesticides. The fiber, or lint, is used to make cotton textiles. Cotton clothing is breathable because it absorbs and releases moisture, such as perspiration, quickly. This is one reason cotton shirts are comfortable, as they are cool in the summer and retain warmth in winter. In addition to clothing, cotton fabric is frequently used to create bed sheets and towels, which are also soft. When cotton is woven in different ways, it forms terrycloth, velvet, denim, corduroy and flannel.
