To clear back acne, start with taking a salt water bath and using an acne-fighting soap to wash your back. Follow the bath with an oatmeal mask, and then apply a spot treatment to the blemishes. It can take a few weeks for the acne to clear completely.
- Prepare a salt water bath
Run a warm bath. Pour 2 to 3 cups of either sea salt or Epsom salt into the water. Allow it to dissolve completely.
- Soak in the bath
Sit in the bathtub with your back submerged in the water for approximately 30 minutes.
- Wash your back with acne-fighting soap
Drain the tub. Wash off the salt with a soap that contains salicylic acid, concentrating on the area of acne breakouts.
- Make an oatmeal mask
Follow the shower with an oatmeal mask. Cook the oatmeal in water until it is soft. Add 3 tablespoons of honey to the oatmeal, and allow the mask to cool.
- Apply the oatmeal mask
After showering, slather the area of back acne with a generous portion of the oatmeal mask. Allow the mask to sit for 20 minutes. Rinse the mask off with lukewarm water.
- Use spot treatments
After rinsing away the mask, apply an over-the-counter spot treatment to each blemish. Look for spot treatments that contain salicylic acid over benzoyl peroxide, as peroxide can bleach your clothes.
