Use cool water, sea salt and knowledge of moon phases to cleanse crystals that have been used for healing. Perform this 12-hour process every month or more frequently as needed.
- Determine the moon's phase
Crystal clearing is best done during a waning or new moon. Letting go, cleansing and renewal are energies traditionally associated with these moon phases. Use a calendar, an almanac or a newspaper to determine the moon phase. Weather apps and Web pages are also useful resources.
- Run the crystals under cool water
Run cool water over the crystals for several minutes to remove any dust or grit from the surface of the stones. Avoid the use of hot water, which can cause cracking. Keep the pointed end down if the crystal has only one point of termination. Rub the crystal gently from top to bottom with your fingers, and visualize the impurities running off and down the drain.
- Soak the crystal overnight in a mild salt solution
Make a mild salt solution by dissolving 1 tablespoon of sea salt in 1 cup of water in a glass or a ceramic container. Place the crystal into the solution, and allow it to soak overnight, preferably outside in the moonlight.
- Rinse and dry the crystal
In the morning, remove the crystal from the salt solution and rinse. Dry the crystal.
