Clean tarnished silver jewelry using a variety of household products, including aluminium foil, baking soda, laundry detergent, toothpaste and vinegar. Try mixing 1/2 cup of white wine vinegar with 2 tablespoons of baking soda and leaving the jewelry to soak for several hours. Rinse with cold water.
All silver jewelry tarnishes over time as it is exposed to oxygen in the air. The tarnish appears as a black coating on the outside of the jewelry, but it is easy to remove. Keeping silver jewelry dry and storing it in a jewelry box or sealed bag when not being worn can prevent it from tarnishing too quickly.
