How Can You Get a Wet Look for Wavy Hair?

The wet look is great as an easy-upkeep style for wavy hair. The styling products used to create a wet look add shine and definition while providing protection against drying from sun and wind. Use a strong-holding hair gel and hair spray to create a wet look for wavy hair that flatters the face and holds up all day.

  1. Shampoo your hair

After washing, use your fingers instead of a comb or brush to get out tangles so you avoid disturbing your hair's natural pattern of waves and curls.

  2. Dry your hair

Let your hair air dry, if possible, to preserve its natural waves.

  3. Apply a hair gel with strong hold

Squeeze an amount of hair gel into your palm about the size of a quarter, depending on the length of your hair. Rub your hands together to distribute gel on both palms. Smooth the gel through the hair, starting at the roots and working through to the ends.

  4. Scrunch in waves

Starting at the ends, gently scrunch waves into the hair, and work your way to the roots.

  5. Use hairspray

Hold a can of medium-hold hairspray about 10 inches from your head. Spray your wet-look waves to set them to last all day.
