Vinegar does not strip hair color from the hair. Vinegar removes residue buildup on the hair without damaging it or the hair dye.

Many women use vinegar as part of their beauty routines. The vinegar strips the residue that dyes and shampoos leave in the hair. Using a vinegar rinse once a week can leave the hair smooth and shiny. Simply mix a third of a cup of vinegar with a quart of water to create a mix that can then be placed directly onto hair. Either white or apple cider vinegar can be used. Typically, it's left on for 30 seconds and then rinsed.
