A simple homemade leg wax can be made by heating honey, lemon and sugar until it achieves a thickened consistency. Allow the mixture to cool for about 20 minutes before applying it to the skin.
A honey based leg wax is easy to make in the microwave within a few minutes. Ingredients needed for this recipe include a quarter cup of honey, a cup of sugar and the juice of half a lemon. Application is done with a spoon and a few strips of fabric.
- Mix the ingredients Place the honey, lemon and sugar in a microwave-safe bowl. Stir with a spoon until well mixed.
- Heat the mixture Place the mixture in the microwave for 30 seconds at medium heat. Stir with a spoon and place back in the microwave for another 30 seconds. This should be enough to melt the sugar into the honey and thicken the mixture. If not, heat for an additional twenty to thirty seconds. Watch the mixture for burning.
- Allow to cool Allow the honey mixture to cool for about 20 minutes before use. At this time it should still be warm, but not burning.
- Apply the honey wax Spoon the warm honey mixture on to the skin. Smooth a strip of clean fabric over the honey mixture. Allow it to cool for a minute. Pull the skin taut and pull the fabric quickly away from the skin in the opposite direction that the hair is growing from the skin.
