The Huffington Post states that aspirin, natural oils, vinegar, baking soda and lemon juice get rid of dandruff fast. Drugstore remedies are not always effective if the cause of dandruff is unknown, and they often have unpleasant side effects.
The Huffington Post recommends crushing two aspirin tablets into a fine powder, adding them to shampoo and allowing the mixture to remain in the hair for one to two minutes to remove dandruff. After washing the hair again with regular shampoo to remove any power, the salicylic acid in the aspirin removes dandruff from the hair and prevents it from returning.
Warming natural oils, such as olive, coconut or almond oils, massaging them into the scalp, and leaving the oil in overnight removes dandruff.
Pouring 2 cups of apple cider vinegar mixed with 2 cups of cold water to rinse out shampoo also removes dandruff. Leaving white vinegar in the scalp overnight and washing the hair with regular shampoo the next day is also an alternative dandruff removal method using vinegar.
Using crumbled baking soda as shampoo for a number of weeks and washing the hair with regular shampoo removes dandruff.
Massaging lemon juice in to the hair and leaving it on the scalp for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing every day is also an effective dandruff remover.
