Can Men Wear High Heels?

High heels were originally invented for men. The height of the heel enabled men to mount their horses in an easier manner, and allowed their feet to be secure in the stirrups. The first heels are thought to have been worn by Persian warriors.

High heels were also worn as a as a sign of high status and wealth. Heel fanatic King Louis XIV of France was only 5 feet 4 inches, and collected heels for both fashion and to increase his height. Women in his era or the 1600s began to wear heels too, as a symbol of equality. Men can still wear heels for the added height or for their fashion favorites, as of 2015.
