Long hair offers numerous styling choices, such as a standard ponytail, untied curls or a side part. Most styling options require some form of hair product and tools such as a blow dryer or curling iron.
The ponytail is an incredibly versatile long style because it can be worn in several different ways. The most basic form involves simply collecting the hair at the back of the head and tying it up with a hair band or ribbon. Other variations involve leaving some of the hair out of the ponytail, called a half-up, or shifting the pony tail to the top, left or right side of the head.
Curling is another popular styling choice for long hair because it adds a considerable amount of volume. Using a home curling iron, it is possible to obtain a variety of curl styles. For large, loose curls, a person divides the hair into approximately six sections and loosely wraps each one around the curling iron, holding in place for about 20 seconds. For small, tight curls, a person takes the sections of hair and wraps them very tightly around the curling iron, as close together as possible without overlapping. People should hold the curls on the iron from 40 to 60 seconds, and then let them fall.
A side part can be worn with any type of hair, and only requires a part near the top of the head and the hair to be swept over to one side.
