Great Clips customers can check-in online through the company's home page by clicking on the Check-In button, or through the company's Android or iPhone apps. Great Clips Online Check-In is available at all of the company's more than 3,800 salons in the United States and Canada.
When a customer checks in online, they first must select their local Great Clips salon, and then enter their name and the number of people who require haircuts. After checking in online, the person's name is then added to the waiting list. However, online check-in is not an appointment, so the customer may still have to wait after they arrive. In most cases, the customer's name should be near the top of the list, although they may have to wait longer if they requested a specific stylist. Once the customer arrives at the salon, they must then inform the staff of the arrival so that they can check the customer's information and complete the check-in.
Great Clips Online Check-In can be used for all types of services with the exception of perms, as most salons require an appointment for this service.
In 2011, Great Clips became the first salon in the industry to offer online check-ins. As of 2015, the Great Clips smartphone app has been downloaded more than 3 million times and is used by more than 20 percent of the company's customers.
