As of September 2015, Amazon.com, Walmart and JCPenney sell women's and men's Elgin watches online. Watches at all three retailers come in modern, classic and elegant styles. Some of the watches have online user reviews and ratings.
The Elgin Watch company produced watches in the United States from 1864 until 1968. The primary manufacturing site was Elgin, Illinois, 30 miles northwest of Chicago. Eventually, plants were built in Aurora, Illinois, Lincoln, Nebraska and Blaney, South Carolina, which changed its name to match the company.
The company stopped manufacturing watches in the United States in 1968, and rights to the Elgin name passed around from company to company. MZ Berger, Inc., ultimately ended up with permission to use the original name.
