To bleach hair, mix bleach and developer, and apply the solution to sectioned hair using a hair brush or hair color applicator. Read the hair-coloring product directions carefully, and follow the instructions to the letter.
- Prepare to bleach your hair
Wear an old T-shirt, wrap an old towel around your neck, and wear plastic gloves.
- Mix the bleach and developer
Mix the bleach and developer in a bowl. Read the instruction manual carefully, and follow the directions.
- Apply the bleach
Use a hair brush to section your hair. Apply the color one section at a time. Ensure that the sections are thin enough to be covered evenly. Start with the tips, and work your way down to the roots.
- Wait for the bleach to work
Keep the bleach in the hair for as long as directed on the product’s instructions leaflet. Check the color periodically to see that the product is working as it should. It is normal for darker hair to turn orange in the initial stages of beaching.
- Rinse out the bleach
Thoroughly rinse out the bleach in the shower. Wash your hair with a mild shampoo before washing again with a deep conditioner. Use a clean towel to dry your hair.
- Apply toner
Apply toner by following the product’s instructions manual to the letter. Thoroughly rinse out the toner after the stipulated time has elapsed, and then wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner.
