A Brazilian bikini wax is a technique for removing all the pubic hair on a woman, including between the buttocks. Sometimes a small strip of hair, known as a "landing strip," is left on the front of the body immediately above the vulva.
Brazilian waxing was first introduced in the United States in 1987. The procedure involves applying hot wax to the pubic hair, pressing a piece of cloth over the wax till it dries, then pulling off the cloth in such a way that the hairs are pulled out at the root. Many people find the procedure very painful, and objections include the implication that it makes the genital areas of adult women appear prepubescent.
