Quick Answer

To do a blowout, apply volumizing mousse, pre-dry the hair, blow dry the roots, dry the rest of the hair while curling the ends with a round brush, and apply hair serum. This 30-minute process requires a mirror, a comb, a round brush, mousse, a blow dryer and smoothing serum.

Full Answer

  1. Prepare the hair

Comb the hair, apply a generous amount of volumizing mousse, and comb the product through the hair.

  2. Pre-dry the hair

Hold the blow dryer above the head, and blast the hair until it is about 75 percent dry.

  3. Dry the roots

Lift up a section of hair at the crown, and aim the dryer at the roots. Use this technique for all of the hair on the crown of the head.

  4. Dry the rest of the hair

Separate a 2-inch section of hair from the crown of the head. Pull it taut with a round brush, and blow dry it until no moisture remains. Do this with the remaining hair, working in 2-inch sections.

  5. Apply serum

Dispense one or two pumps of smoothing serum into your hand, rub your hands together, and rake your fingers through the hair. Add additional serum to the tips, especially if you have very fine hair.
