To blow dry thick hair, you will need a towel, a blow dryer, hair clips, a comb, a brush and a leave-in conditioner. Towel dry your hair, and apply the conditioner. Section your hair, and blow it dry while running the brush through your hair. The entire process may take 30 to 45 minutes.
- Towel dry your hair
Towel dry your hair to remove as much moisture as possible.
- Apply a leave-in conditioner
Apply a leave-in conditioner to soften thick hair and make it as manageable as possible. Comb the conditioner through the length of the hair.
- Select a high-quality wide-tooth brush
Use a brush that has high-quality nylon or boar bristles that are wide enough to penetrate deeply through thick hair. Use a paddle brush for a straight style, and use a round brush to create volume.
- Blow dry your hair
Set your blow dryer to either a medium or high setting, and separate your hair into small sections. Blow dry each section of hair, starting with the back sections, and work your way forward until you reach the crown of your head. Hold your blow dryer approximately 8 inches from your head. Continuously run the brush through your hair while blow drying. Thick hair can take a long time to completely dry, so it is important to be patient.
