To blow-dry curly hair, blot the hair dry with a towel, apply product by working up from the ends, and use the correct setting and attachment on your blow-dryer. Flip your hair over and dry from the roots to the mid-shaft. Finish with pomade for shine.
- Blot hair dry
Use an absorbent towel to blot excess water from the hair before drying. Do not rub the hair with the towel as this causes curls to become frizzy.
- Apply products to damp hair
First, apply a leave-in conditioner. Put a small amount in your palm, and emulsify by rubbing your hands together. Finger comb the products starting with the ends. Follow up with hair gel or hair oil applied in the same manner.
- Set the blow-dryer correctly
Use a blow-dryer with a maximum of 1,400 watts of power. Set the dryer to low air and medium heat.
- Use a diffuser
Attach a diffuser to the nozzle of the blow-dryer. Select a model that is concave in the center, so curls have enough space to rest in the diffuser bowl.
- Dry the roots first
Flip your head over, and shake the curls. Turn on the blow-dryer, and set the diffuser at the nape of your neck. Gently move the diffuser around the back and top of your head, allowing curls to rest in the bowl.
- Dry the mid-shaft
If your hair is very thick or long, dry the mid-shaft. Stand up straight again. Rest the middle of your hair into the bowl of the diffuser. Shake gently. The ends of the hair should be left to dry naturally to avoid frizz.
- Finish with pomade
After drying, put a small amount of pomade in your palm. Emulsify it, and apply the pomade to your hair starting from the ends.
