January's garnet also comes in orange and green. The birthstone for March is the aquamarine, which has a blue tone that varies between pale sky blue and a deep sea blue. The diamond is the birthstone for April, which is traditionally a white stone, but are also found in yellow, blue and pink. May's birthstone is the rare emerald, which is a stone with a rich green color.

June boasts two birthstones with the pearl and alexandrite. Pearls are traditionally white but have variations of silver, pink, gold and cream colors. Alexandrite changes color depending on the lighting but is typically a combination of blue, green, pink and purple. Rubies are the birthstone of July and are a deep red color. August has the peridot birthstone which is only found in a lime green color.

September's birthstone is the sapphire, which is traditionally a rich blue color but is also found in pink, yellow and green. There are two birthstones in October, the pink tourmaline and the white-based opal, which changes color in various lighting. November's birthstones are the bright yellow citrine and topaz, which is found in orange, blue, pink and yellow. December is the only month with three birthstones including zircon, tanzanite and turquoise, all of which are variations of blue.
