Many Arab men wear keffiyeh on their heads. According to UAE Style Magazine, Keffiyeh are square cotton scarves which men place on their heads and then tie into place using agals.
Keffiyeh come in traditional patterns and colors. Different Arab countries and tribes tend to be associated with specific colors of keffiyeh. Some Arab men also traditionally wear spherical caps, which are called qalansuwa. Cotton turbans are also an option for Arab men. Arab men wear these head coverings for religious reasons as well as for protection against the extreme heat of the Middle East. When traveling in western countries, Arabs sometimes forgo their keffiyeh or other traditional head coverings and opt for Western-style hats instead.
