Alcohol-free hairspray eliminates dryness caused by alcohol-filled products that can make hair appear dull. Many manufacturers advertise their products as alcohol-free on the label, including Nexxus, Garnier and Jonathan, but some alcohol-free products don't.
Examine the ingredients on the product label to identify its contents. If the product contains alcohol, it can be stated by a variety of names, including alcohol, alcohol denat, alcohol denatured, methanol and isopropyl. Alcohol evaporates quickly, and in the process it removes the hair's natural moisture. It is added to hair products as a sanitizer and preservative ingredient, and it also used to thicken the product and reduce foaming.
