Which Louisiana Newspapers Have Extensive Classified Sections?

Extensive classified ad sections are available on the websites of three Louisiana newspapers: the "New Orleans Advocate," the "Times-Picayune of Greater New Orleans" and the "Advertiser of Lafayette." These three websites enable visitors to locate ads either by searching or by browsing a categories list.

Sample categories in the classified section of the "New Orleans Advocate" are employment, weekend bargains, boats and motors, announcements and real estate.

As of 2015, top categories in the "Times-Picayune of Greater New Orleans" classified section, as well as the associated NOLA.com, are pets, for sale, garage-yard and estate sales, services and autos. The browsing list further divides into subcategories; for example, the pets category includes kittens and cats for sale, pet obituaries and memorials, livestock and cattle and services and supplies. A number accompanies each subcategory to show the number of ads in each group.

The "Daily Advertiser" partners with Cars.com, CareerBuilder.com and HomeFinder.com in providing auto, job and real estate notifications. The paper's ad categories have drop-down menus showing subcategories and the number of ads in each subcategory.

All three newspapers also enable businesses to post ads online for a fee, and in some cases also in print editions of their papers via their websites.
