Most experts agree that the easiest way to lose weight is by eating a healthy diet, drinking plenty of water, exercising regularly, getting enough sleep, and reducing consumption of sugar and processed carbohydrates. Adhering to these healthy guidelines speeds up the weight loss process and gives the body the nutrients it needs.
- Eat a healthy diet
A diet that consists primarily of vegetables, fruit, whole grains, lean protein and minimal dairy products provides the body with what it needs to function at its best while promoting healthy weight loss. Water keeps the body hydrated and flushes out toxins, so drink at least eight glasses of water each day.
- Exercise regularly
Walking is one of the best exercises because it is a full body work out, but any exercise is effective as long as you do it consistently. Exercise at least three days per week for the best results.
- Get enough sleep
Lack of sleep increases stress and contributes to weight gain. Sleep at least seven hours per night, and try to go to bed and wake up at the same time everyday.
- Reduce consumption of sugar and processed carbohydrates
Refined sugar and processed carbohydrates increase blood-sugar levels and lead to weight gain. Eliminate these entirely, or eat them only once per week as a treat.
