Anson Mount is an American actor best known for his role as Cullen Bohannon in the television series "Hell on Wheels." Bohannon is a former Confederate soldier helping to build the first Transcontinental Railroad across the United States after the Civil War. As of 2015, the successful series is filming its fifth and final season, in which Bohannon joins the Central Pacific Railroad as it works its way west across the Sierra Nevadas.
Anson Adams Mount IV, born to Anson Adams Mount II and Nancy Smith on Feb. 25, 1973, is from White Bluff, Tennessee. Anson has two siblings, an older brother named Anson Adams III and a sister named Kristin, both from his father's first marriage. Mount's mother was a former professional golfer and his father was an original contributing editor for Playboy magazine.
He attended Dickson County High School, The University of the South and graduate school for acting at Columbia University. After graduating in 1998, Mount made appearances in televisions shows "Ally McBeal" and "Sex and the City" before achieving a full-time role as Dr. Montville in "Third Watch" in 2000. Mount also starred in several movies in 2000, including his first starring role as Tully Coates, Jr. in "Tully." He also starred alongside Britney Spears in "Crossroads" in 2002.
