What Happens in the Movie "Frozen"?

"Frozen" tells the story of the newly coronated Elsa, a queen with the magical power to create snow and ice, after she accidentally cloaks the kingdom of Arendelle in an eternal snowfall. When she flees, her sister, Anna, embarks on a journey to find her and stop the endless winter.

Elsa struggles to control her powers even as a child. After an incident where she accidentally injures her younger sister, their parents forbid both princesses to leave the castle until Elsa is no longer dangerous. Elsa develops a fear of hurting others and isolates herself in her room.

At Elsa's coronation, Prince Hans, a man with evil intentions, proposes to Anna. Elsa refuses to give her blessing, and the emotional outburst causes her powers to activate. Terrified of a repeat incident from her childhood, Elsa flees the castle, bringing with her an eternal winter.

Princess Anna embarks on a journey to find her sister and patch their shaky relationship. With the help of Kristoff, Sven and Olaf, Anna finds her sister's hidden castle, only to be turned away. Elsa's act of kindness freezes Anna's heart. Kristoff discovers that the only way to save Anna is for her heart to be thawed by an act of true love. In the end, it is an act of sisterly love that saves Anna as opposed to the assumed Disney formula of true love.
