What Is an Easy Recipe for Hamburger Goulash?

Paula Deen offers an easy recipe for hamburger goulash on FoodNetwork.com. The recipe takes around 1 hour and 50 minutes to prepare and cook, and it yields around six servings.

To make the recipe, first prepare Paula’s house seasoning by combining 1 cup of salt, 1/4 cup of pepper and 1/4 cup of garlic powder. Store in an airtight container for up to six months; retain 1 tablespoon of the seasoning for this recipe.

Saute 2 pounds of lean ground beef over medium-high heat in a Dutch oven, sauteeing until no pink meat remains and breaking up the meat as it cooks. Spoon away any grease that cooks out of the meat, and then add 2 large chopped yellow onions and 3 cloves of chopped garlic. Cook around five minutes or until the onions and garlic are tender.

Add 3 cups of water, 2 15-ounce cans of tomato sauce, 2 15-ounce cans of diced tomatoes, 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning and 3 bay leaves to the mixture. Also add 3 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of house seasoning, and 1 teaspoon seasoned salt. Stir the mixture well, place a lid on the Dutch oven, and cook for 15 to 20 minutes.

Add 2 cups uncooked macaroni to the mixture, stir, and return the lid to the pot. Allow the goulash to simmer for around 30 minutes, and then turn off the heat, remove the 3 bay leaves, and let the mixture rest for 30 minutes prior to serving with salad and garlic bread.
