Alternatively, make a hot crab dip by combining 8 ounces of softened cream cheese with 1 cup mayonnaise, 2 teaspoons seafood seasoning and 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard in a bowl. Mix the ingredients until they form a smooth mixture. Fold 1 pound of lump crabmeat into the cream cheese mixture. Spread the dip in a shallow baking dish and sprinkle the top with 1/4 cup shredded cheese. Bake the crabmeat dip for 30 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit until the top is bubbly and the cheese melts. Serve this hot dip with sturdy crackers or slices of bread.
To make a lighter crab dip, combine 1/2 cup diced mango with 1 teaspoon jalapeno pepper, 3 tablespoons minced red pepper, 2 tablespoons lime juice, 1/2 teaspoon cumin, 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro, 1/2 cup chili sauce and 2 tablespoons sour cream. Gently stir 8 ounces of crabmeat into the salsa, and refrigerate the dip for at least one hour before serving it with tortilla chips.
