Captain Beatty believes that books should be destroyed, because he feels that they are useless and only bring stress and worry to people. Captain Beatty is a character from the book "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury.

"Fahrenheit 451" is set in the 24th century and tells the story of a fireman, Guy Montag, whose job is to burn illegal books and their owners' houses. Eventually, Montag starts to question what he is doing and undergoes a drastic change, running away from the society he's familiar with to make friends with a network of intellectuals living underground.
