Churchill Downs racetrack is located at 700 Central Avenue in the southern part of Louisville, Kentucky. The racetrack opened in 1875 and is home of the Kentucky Derby, as of 2015.
Churchill Downs has a capacity for 120,000 people, although up to 150,00 people fit into it during the Kentucky Derby. It has an official seating capacity of 50,000. The entire facility encompasses 147 acres. The actual racetrack is about one mile long and 79 to 80 feet wide. The facility has several luxury boxes, lights for night races and the world's largest 4k video screen, known as The Big Board, as of 2015.
