Used tire rims can be sold online through specialty tire and auto part marketplaces, such as Wheel Exchange, as well as through general classifieds sites, such as Craigslist. Internet auction sites, such as eBay, are also commonly used to list used wheel rims.
The Wheel Exchange marketplace is operated by The Wheel House, Inc., a discount tire and automotive retailer, and allows users to create free listings for used rims and wheels. Listings are active on the site for 120 days and can be renewed an infinite number of times without the user needing to recreate the listing, as of March 2015. Each listing contains details about the item's condition and the type of vehicle for which it is intended, along with pictures of the item and the seller's asking price.
Individuals who create listings for used rims on Craigslist can also do so for free. Users have the ability to include both pictures and text in each listing, as well as a geographic location so that the post can be included on the site's map of listings. Craigslist does not take part in the transaction phase of sales, which means it is up to the buyer and the seller to work out payment and delivery methods.
