The Boeing 737-800 is part of the Boeing Next Generation series of airliners which began production in 1996. The Next Generation is the third generation of the 737 series and features four variations of airplanes. The 737-800 is a stretched version of the 737-700 model and has a 9.45 wing aspect ratio. The 737-800 is an updated version of the 737-400 and is being used to replace Boeing 727-200 trijets and the McDonnell Douglas MD-80, which was discontinued.
