WWE Network does not offer and free PPV programming, as PPV stands for pay-per-view. PPV programming on the WWE Network includes the Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, Survivor Series and SummerSlam.
The pay-per view format has been common in WWE program since the 1980s, beginning with the events previously listed, classified as the "Big Four." In the 1990s, WWE PPV events became monthly occurrences, bringing in a strong, consistent revenue stream by introducing events such as King of the Ring and In Your House. Since 2008, all PPV events have been broadcast in high definition and are available through In Demand, Dish Network and DirecTV in the United States.
