Hazem Sharif of Syria won Arab Idol 2014. Saudi Arabian contestant, Majid Al Madani, and Palestinian contestant, Haitham Khalailah, were the show's two runner-ups. Hazem Shareef's prizes were 250,000 Saudi riyals, a contract for a video and three singles with Platinum Records, and a trip to the Seychelles.
The singer broke the trend of carrying his country's flag during his victory celebration. He stated that he refused to honor the usual tradition because he did not want to seem like he was taking a side in the country's civil war. The singer also stated he did not want his art to mingle with politics.
