"The Paradise," a British television drama co-produced by BBC America, was not renewed for a third season in 2014. However, stars of the first and second seasons of the show include Joanna Vanderham, Peter Wight and Emun Elliot.
"The Paradise" is a dramatic television series that takes place in the late 19th century. It centers around Denise Lovett, a young woman played by Joanna Vanderham, who works as a salesgirl in a department store, The Paradise. Peter Wight plays Edmond Lovett, Denise's uncle, who owns a small shop and is struggling to keep up his shop with competition from The Paradise. Emun Elliot plays John Moray, the owner of The Paradise, who sees the potential in Denise as a successful salesgirl.
Additional stars of first two seasons include Arthur Darvill as Bradley Burroughs, a barber who is Moray's business partner for a short time; Nathan Stewart-Jarrett as Christian Cartwright, a renowned photographer; and David Bamber as Charles Chisholm, a hat maker with a shop across the street from The Paradise.
On Feb. 12, 2014, the BBC confirmed that "The Paradise" would not return for a third season, citing that the show had lower ratings than other relatively new BBC dramas, such as "Death in Paradise, "Sherlock" and "Silk."
