In the beginning of the 1960s, the Isley Brothers' "Twist and Shout" was popular as was Del Shannon's "Runaway." Kids danced to "Wild Thing" by The Troggs and "Louie, Louie" by The Kingsman. The Beach Boys hit with "Good Vibrations." People loved "I Want to Hold Your Hand" by the Beatles.
Country music was popular too, with Johnny Cash singing "Ring of Fire." Patsy Cline's "Crazy" lit up jukeboxes.
Mowtown artists had many chart topping songs, including The Temptations "My Girl" and "Soldier Boy" by the Shirelles. The Supremes had many popular songs like "Stop in the Name of Love" and "You Can't Hurry Love." Many sang along to the Jackson 5's "I Want You Back."
Later in the decade songs like Cream's "White Room" were popular. The Rolling Stones charted regularly with songs like "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction." "Jumpin' Jack Flash" and "Paint it Black." The Who touched a nerve with "My Generation." At the end of the decade, Elvis Presley had a hit with "Suspicious Minds."
